The joyous 1920's dance, the "Charleston" (video)
"The Charleston was the dance that captured the spirit of the 1920s. It was danced with wild abandon by a new generation of independent young Americans, to the new hot jazz that was flooding the country. The dance began in Charleston, South Carolina, the city from which it takes its name. In 1923, The Charleston was featured in the Broadway show Runnin Wild, one of the biggest hits of the decade. The song from the show - James P. Johnsons tune The Charleston - spread the fad across the nation and onwards to the rest of the world. Josephine Baker became famous for performing the Charleston in Paris in the 1920s. The Charleston is both a solo and partnered dance, both wildly exuberant and exciting to watch. As the hot jazz of the 1920s gave way to the swingin jazz of the 1930s and 40s, the partnered version of Charleston evolved into Lindy Hop."

Wonderful clip featuring "The Hobbit" and Thorin!
If you haven't seen "The Hobbit", do yourself a favour and check it out in the cinemas, or see it when its released on DVD. It's an excellent film, fabulous actors, stunning cinematography and cgi, and, of course, the incomparable direction of Peter Jackson! "The Hobbit" is visually stunning, filled with humour and excitment. With close to three hours of film, I was amazed how quickly the time passed, and at the film's conclusion, my friend and myself wanted to go straight back in and see it all again!

Since we're on the Kimba theme (video)
Here we have a short clip from the first episode when Kimba must swim to safety and his mother appears in the sky as a star formation encouraging him on to safety. A lovely moment in cartoon history...
Kimba - The White Lion theme song (video)
In the 60's, long before Disney's "The Lion King", Japanese animators created this wonderful cartoon series that made a generation of children all over the world, happy. The Kimba theme song was a favourite too. "The Lion King" was basically a reworking of the Kimba storyline.
